The Dogon have lived around the Bandiágara Fault since the 15th century., Northwest Mali, an area of ​​difficult access that has contributed to invariably preserve its culture and tradition, marked by animism.

This precious piece represents a woman in a state of pregnancy. The husband gave it to his wife who placed it in a special place at the entrance of the home (altar) and small sacrifices and offerings were offered. Formerly this amulet for fertility was carved in stone but with the arrival of bronze they gradually evolved.

Entirely made in bronze with the ancient lost wax method, this piece measures 24cm high and 10cm wide. Obvious signs of use due to its age.
