We got this piece in Mali at 1997 and has been in our private collection....until now.
Mali has a rich tradition of puppets that they use in their festivals to teach children the legends and teachings of their folklore.. Puppets represent a wide variety of animals, characters and spirits. The attributes of the hunters are also very celebrated.

Carved from a single piece of wood and exquisitely painted with Kaolin colours, this hyena is a good piece to place in any space as it stands up perfectly due to its weight.. His rogue expression will not leave anyone indifferent and will make a good bodyguard.

Solid wood with a suitable weight of 3kg and a height of 55cm (21,5").
