Millefiori beads (from the Italian “thousand flowersâ€) They are glass beads made with a very old artisanal technique that was practiced in Murano and around Venice at the beginning of the 18th century.. This technique combined glass rods of different colors creating (by hand) tiny colorful mosaics that were then cut into sections creating these beautiful pieces as if they were mosaics.
This type of beads were highly appreciated in West Africa and almost all of them were destined for this market with a port of entry in Mauritania., This is why they are also known as Mauritanian stones..
In this necklace there is an interesting collection of millefiori separated by wooden beads with silver aluminum inlay inside, handmade in Mali.
The closure is made of stainless brass.
