White-blue Turkana bead necklace

These ancient beads belong to the Turkana tribe, northern Kenya and southern Ethiopia. The women of this tribe are characterized by having a multitude of these beads screwed around their necks ... the greater the number of turns, higher social status represents.
Men however usually wear a simple necklace with one or two turns.
This necklace is made up of approximately 155 antique beads that can be seen by the subtle difference in size and color between them and joined by a strong cord. The design incorporates a small silver aluminum bead.
